In August, our staff rescued seven boys from a metalwork factory in Kathmandu, working to produce souvenirs for tourists. We estimate that they are between 10 and 14 years old, though some held what appeared to be false documents claiming that they were older.
The work in the factory was difficult and extremely dirty. After they boys were taken to our transit home they were able to clean themselves and hardly recognised their own reflections in the mirror afterwards!
One of the boys has now been reunited with his family. Efforts to locate the families of other boys is ongoing, but for now they will stay with us, where they are safe.
